Intro
There’s a lot to grasp when it comes to what the web has to offer. But rest assured, it is awesome. It really is awesome! Whatever it is that ignites your passion has a place on the web where your input makes what the web has to offer EVEN BETTER.
From my own searches and from conversations with people who are interested in the web and who are interested in possibly having a website of their own, the consistent concern I find is that while it is fairly cheap to get some “techie” to set you up with a website, it’s the challenge of maintaining and operating it that becomes disconcerting— and that ultimately takes too much time away from the REAL passion. ”Maintaining my website is the last thing on my mind. I just wish I didn’t have to do it.”
Sound familiar? For me, I had a friend who guided me into setting up my first site… in fact, he sort of cajoled me into it when he came over for a Halloween party in 2008. Guess he got tired of telling me over and over that I oughta have a blog. So I gave up my credit card to him and he reserved a site for me as he tapped away on my laptop while sitting on our couch in a full-on Halloween costume. And with less than $10 charged to my credit card to reserve a website address, I was on my way…
Indeed, it took me quite a while to decide upon what I wanted to do with a website. I really wasn’t sure. Should I use it for business? Or should I just use it for personal family photos and stories? Or should I try my hand at commenting on politics, or sports, or music? I felt the onset of sensory overload. There are too many choices. The potential uses for a website are practically unlimited.
And that’s why it’s really up to you. It’s ultimately up to YOU to determine what sort of web presence is right for you. Maybe it’s a portal for you to explore your passion. Maybe it’s a channel for you to highlight your hobby and connect with others around the world who share in that unique interest. Maybe it’s your business that cries out for some attention on the internet so at holiday parties you can proudly invite people to Google you! “Of course I’m on the web!” Site Propulsion Lab handles it for me, and for me it’s so easy.”
It’s my contention that what you’ll find as you enjoy the benefits of great web presence is The Future. And the future is really already here. It’s one where virtually everyone will have his or her own website— at least one! Update it from practically anywhere in the world. And at your home or office you’ll see the web on the big screen too if you so desire. And your connection to the people of the world through this digitial portal— along with your understanding of them, and their understanding of you— will grow exponentially!
